He has worked on suicide prevention strategies internationally and more recently after representing NSW at the International Conference of Jurists in Mumbai in 2017 he has worked with the Maharashtra State Government, on behalf of the NSW State Government, to assist in looking at the adaptation of mediation to help mitigate endemic farmer suicides.

David has an altruistic approach and a strong commercial background in both executive management and governance resulting from many years having held several roles such as Chief Manager: Retail Services, then Corporate Centre, followed by Legal and Recoveries, for National Australia Bank NZ, being a Director of Lifeline International, serving many years as chair of Lifeline NZ, the Gambling Helpline and being the inaugural Chair of Lifeline Pasifika.

The first, 'Avoid Retirement and Stay Alive' co-authored with BBC Award Winning Journalist Keith Davies, was for many months the No 1 Bestseller for Non-Fiction in NZ and the second, 'What's Keeping you Awake at Night?' for which he was awarded the Harper Collins 'Author of The Month', is still being used as a manual for conflict management and for running seminars for major organisations such as Fair Work Australia.

David is passionate about mediation and his practice works on the premises that conflict, or breaching another?s boundary/s, is a normal part of daily life as is summarised by his friend Prof Luis Diaz. 'There is no life without co-existence, and there is no co-existence without confrontation.' He believes that each party has the innate ability to collaborate in resolving their differences providing they are fully informed, working in a safe environment, and have the support they need.
